A bus ride, a trembling puppy, and a future he couldn’t possibly see yet. That’s where this story begins. Shared by @pleaseronan, this video follows a rescue dog, Carlito Juanito Benito Counihan Roble, during one of the biggest changes of his life. Freshly separated from his mom and siblings, the little pup looked overwhelmed as he shook in his new human’s arms. Everything around him was unfamiliar. What he didn’t know was that someone special was already waiting for him at home in New York City.
Rescue dog finds new best friend after owner adopts him
The video opens with a close-up of the tiny rescue dog shivering uncontrollably. He is riding on a bus wrapped tightly in his rescuer’s arms, but looks completely shut down. This behavior is pretty common for a fresh rescue dog dealing with such a big environment shift. But the footage quickly cuts to their arrival in NYC. The puppy sits nervously on the floor in his dad’s lap. And that’s when we see the resident dog hopping nearby, who is incredibly eager to meet his new little brother.
The text notes that the pup had no idea a built-in best friend was waiting for him, and their connection was pretty much instant. They start happily playing right next to a plush donut bed. Then they start roughhousing all over the living room couch. This seems to burn off all that nervous energy of the new rescue pup.
The sweet clip wraps up with the two dogs sleeping, squeezed into the exact same bed that they were playing next to earlier. They look so comfortable and safe in each other’s nearness. Emeli Sandé’s song “Next to Me” plays over the video, and the lyrics highlight their constant presence next to each other.
The clip picked up over 3K likes from emotional fans. Ronan noted in the caption that time is going by far too quickly. Commenters are totally obsessed with the pair. One viewer noted that two is definitely better than one. Another person commented that the puppy is so lucky to find this home.
