Talk to a dog in your baby voice, and you realize they are just a bundle of sunshine. That is exactly what a video from Instagram user @miimiisgram shows, featuring a Golden Retriever who cannot stop wagging his tail upon hearing his mom’s baby voice. Goldens have a reputation for living for praise and attention, and this video is a prime example of that.

In the video, the Golden Retriever lounges on the floor, looking calm and relaxed as his mom speaks to him in a baby voice, saying things like “Hi, my baby” and “My baby is so cute.” That’s all it takes for the dog’s tail to start wagging like someone flipped a switch. But the moment she drops into her normal voice, the tail immediately sits down.

The on-screen text explains it exactly as it happens, “Watch his tail wag when I use my baby voice… and instantly stop when I switch to my regular voice” — and sure enough, it turns into a hilarious little back-and-forth. When the Golden’s mom uses her baby voice again — “Who’s my good boy,” “Who’s my baby boy,” and “He’s asking for some love” — the tail starts thumping again, right on cue.

Notably, dogs pay close attention to tone, not just words. That high-pitched, happy “baby talk” tends to sound like a cue to play, affection, and just good things coming their way in general — and to a dog, it’s basically a sign that tells them they are safe and loved. And this Golden Retriever takes that cue seriously.

The video ends with big, sloppy hand kisses as he finally gets the love he has been waiting for. Viewers loved it. One commenter wrote, “So much loving cutie, all my hugs and kisses to the tail wagger.” And if the baby voice makes the tail go, why ever stop?
