Cash is really having a hard time accepting that he’s outgrown the “puppy” phase. And honestly, who can blame him? This certified good boy living in Upstate New York has a bad case of “delu-lu”. In a hilarious video posted by @cashthegoldennnn, we see that despite being a full-grown, 80-pound Golden Retriever, he is still firmly convinced that he is a lap dog. His mom, Macee Fay, seems to have accepted her fate as a permanent canine armchair, even if it means being completely squished while running errands.

Golden Retriever enjoys a car ride while seated in owner’s lap

The footage starts inside the car where Macee is sitting in the passenger seat, though you can barely see her at first. Cash is perched directly on top of her. His head happily hangs out the window to catch all the sights and sounds of the drive. Then the person filming zooms out to show the reality of the situation. The massive dog is taking up every inch of his mom’s lap while she just smiles.

The text on screen explains that she just doesn’t have the heart to tell him he’s no longer a ten-pound puppy. She just lets the Golden Retriever be the oversized lap dog he clearly believes he is. Even when the car comes to a halt, Cash stays exactly where he is, soaking up the attention.

It’s a classic trait for this breed. They are total “velcro dogs” who need to be as close to their humans as physically possible. As one viewer perfectly put it in the comments, “Mums lap will always be the same.” Another person joked that Cash is “just a baby,” regardless of what the scale says.

Naturally, the video struck a chord with over 1,700 people. All of whom deal with the same lack of personal space at home. The comments are full of owners sharing similar stories of their giant pups refusing to move. Someone even questioned how other drivers could pass them by without rolling down their windows to say hi to such a happy passenger.
